Smart energy systems generate value from end-energy

A startup, Qarnot Computing, develops innovative systems for the heating and domestic hot water production of buildings. These systems have a dual function. They are decentralized data centers that emit heat during data processing, and this heat is recovered to supply the buildings with energy. The CSTB is assisting the startup Qarnot Computing, with the development of an R&D road map to create an even smarter version of these “server/heaters”. To achieve this goal, Qarnot Computing and the CSTB are using a large amount of data, including temperature, carbon emissions, energy consumption, motion detection, fall sensors, humidity, brightness, etc., measured and calculated by this equipment. At the end of 2017, new services were considered for active energy management, energy performance, home care, indoor air quality and the connection with digital models of buildings (BIM). Qarnot Computing and the CSTB are developing this research partnership with project owners and industrial companies.
