Accelerating energy renovation of residential buildings

Supported by the European H2020 program, the RenoZEB project was launched in 2017 for three years. It aims to develop and test a plug-and-play renovation concept to improve energy performance in apartment buildings. This requires large-scale use of prefabricated facade elements that integrate isolation systems, renewable energy production and ventilation systems. Tecnalia and the CSTB are among the 19 partners in the RenoZEB project. Tecnalia, the technical coordinator of the project, is one of the designers of the renovation model. The CSTB, involved in the assessment of demonstrators, uses the ISABELE (In-Situ Assessment of the Building EnveLope pErformance) and REPERE methods to check the actual energy performance of renovated buildings upon commissioning and in use. RenoZEB illustrates the shared commitment of Tecnalia and the CSTB to research partnerships and innovation across Europe. Both institutions signed a framework agreement in 2016 to support the quality of buildings in Energy, Health & Comfort and Digital Technologies.
