Full-scale tests on large sliding windows

Large bay windows with minimal supporting frames and thin profiles are especially appreciated by architects of engineering works or high-end residences. In 2017, the CSTB examined three applications for Technical Experimentation Assessment (ATEx) focusing on sliding windows 9 m long and 3 m high. To test these nonstandard frames, the CSTB designed a specific test bench initially devoted to industrial and garage doors. It assisted the industrial companies in preparing test bodies without deforming them and then tested their performance for air infiltration (A), water penetration (E) and wind resistance (V) of the sliding windows.
