A pleasant ecodistrict for residents

In Issy-les-Moulineaux, on the southwestern edge of Paris, the “Cœur de Ville” district will be redeveloping three hectares of industrial wasteland. In 2017, the developer in charge of the operation, Altarea-Cogedim, asked the CSTB to study the impact of the project on sunlight on neighboring buildings. This involved measuring the shadows cast on 35 existing facades around the site. The study, using PHANIE photosimulation software developed by the CSTB, consists in generating images showing the buildings the most impacted by surplus shadow. The facades and the most sensitive spaces are undergoing an annual review with figures indicating the modification of sunlight levels. This shows the number of hours of lost sunlight at all points on a facade and specifies the monthly periods and times affected by the modification of sunlight. The results of the CSTB study contributed to the project assessment concerning the criteria expected for the new ecodistrict.
