8th international conference on snow engineering

Snow science has many industrial and technical applications: construction, transportation, energy production… To foster innovation in this field, the CSTB is hosting the 8th international SnowEng conference at its site in Nantes, from June 14th to 17th 2016. The event takes place every four years and gathers experts from North America, Europe and Asia.

After Japan, Canada, Switzerland, Norway and the United States, it is now France’s turn to host the SnowEng conference. The CSTB is hosting the event from June 14th to 17th 2016 in Nantes, with a focus on six topics: structural engineering; transportation, snow and ice; buildings; snow sciences; snow technology; avalanche engineering.

The development of snow engineering will be examined from various angles, including: digital simulation methods and experimental testing, lessons from field experience, trends in standards, and the impact of climate change, among others.
