Fire safety with Vulcain Smoke treatment

To set the example on environmental issues, the CSTB has reduced the chimney air emissions generated by its fire reaction and resistance testing. In 2016, the CSTB equipped its Vulcain facility, located in Marne-la-Vallée, with a system that filters soot and toxic gases from fire tests on all types of materials: inert, plastic or with high organic content. This is an advantage for guiding the development of innovations in construction based on renewable resources, or assemblies using structural bonding, for example. The purification system is unique because it can operate as needed during tests, and at high temperatures. This installation was made possible thanks to the financial support of the Région Ile-de-France and the Direction de l'Habitat, de l'Urbanisme, du Patrimoine et des Paysages (DHUP).
