8_th International Conference on Snow Engineering

Construction, transport, energy production and more: Snow engineering has many industrial and technical applications. To foster innovation and contribute to this field, the CSTB organized the 8th International Conference on Snow Engineering (SnowEng) in Nantes in June 2016. This event, which takes place every four years, was held for the first time in France. It brought together about 100 experts from North America, Europe and Asia.

The focus was on six themes: structural engineering, transport, construction, snow science, snow technology, and avalanche engineering. New developments in snow engineering demonstrate advances in research methods, including digital simulation and experimental testing methods, field experience, changing standards and the impact of climate change.
